Photos can stand on their own without explanation, and usually have to, which is fine for people who simply want to look at them (not that there’s anything wrong with that). But for other photographers, and sometimes even for non-photographers, hearing the story of a photo can be educational, amusing, surprising or something else.

So this blog is about writing the stories behind the photos—mostly, but not always, my own photos. I’ll write about what I personally find interesting and worth discussing, in the hope that readers will feel the same way. Analyzing and writing about a photo or a photo excursion helps me understand what does or doesn’t make a photo special, which techniques work and which don’t, and why what I planned may not have worked out.

But enough About the blog, back to the home page.
