A make-up artist named Skip was at my granddaughters’ combined birthday party in early October. The party had an “animal” theme, and the kids came dressed as their favorite animals. Skip is a talented face-painter, and the girls’ outfits and painted faces were great subjects.

Here’s Skip painting Eva as a rabbit.

And the finished product.

Same sequence with Kai.

This is the photo of the day. I did a fair amount of post-processing and added some effects. Her expression is perfect for her look, although, unfortunately, she has that expression because she didn’t like the feel of the face paint. She had her mom wipe it all off about five minutes after it was applied—but not before I captured this image.

And here are the two animals together.

What photographer would pass up a subject like this? Especially if the kids in question were his/her granddaughters.
